Sourced From Coffee Shrub. From the supplier:
The Benti Nenka processing site is located in a village (“Kebele”) of the same name within the Hambela Wamena region, Ethiopia’s Guji Zone. While we’ve carried “Benti Nenka” coffee in the past, this is from a new supplier. There are a few wet mills in this region with the same name, which can make things a little confusing! They can all be buying from the same coffee producers too, which means there is often flavor parity from one site to the next. This site buys from roughly 700 coffee farmers near the village, most of whom only have around 150 trees. To give you an idea what that translates to in weight, these farms produce the equivalent of 1-2 60 kg bags of green coffee per year. The farms are typically managed by the family, sharing in the work to pick coffee during the harvest. Farmers typically use organic farming methods to grown coffee, though the coffee is not certified. Coffee cherries are first laid out on a tarp to separate any that are not ripe before delivering them to the mill. The coffee is picked over again at the drying tables to improve the quality and uniformity. The coffee in this region is grown at very high altitudes that roughly span a range of 1850 to 2100 meters above sea level.
